JEC XJS Championship - Cadwell Park 8th July 2007:

The second race was rather low on action, after Davis' first-lap lead managed to spread the field considerably. Lock and Hill were soon established in second the third once more, while the spectacular Avery charged his way from the back of the grid sixth by lap two. "I think I had past seven cars before I reached the start line," he reckoned.

The flag was put out early with Davis comfortably ahead, after Hill had crashed out at the Gooseneck. Avery joined Davis and Lock as the podium finishers.

Race 2 was just as riveting as Davis was now on pole, Hill 2nd and Lock 3rd. Red lights out and Avery from the back of the grid shoots up to 7th by the first bend, unbelievable!

Gail had dropped back to 3rd and Lock was now 2nd. Matt Skelton kept his 4thplace but found Gary Hastings was sniffing his exhaust. By lap 2 though Gary found his way past Matt but Skelton wasn't going to lie down and play dead. He gave an almighty chase as they snaked there way around the track lap after lap, tyres screeching brakes boiling and only 0.5 of a second was the gap when the chequered flag was waved, they took 4th and 5th places.

Meanwhile Class E winner Steve Avery had now moved up to 4th by lap 4. Lap 3 saw Lawrence Coppock come into the pits and retire, a result of the damage sustained from the Powered By race the day before.

On lap 7 the red flags were waved as Robert McVicar of London had two spectacular spins in succession and found himself in the grass at the Mountain, the car was in a dangerous position.

Gail Hill had also spun off around the Club Circuit on lap 6 doing some frontal damage.

Davis took the chequered flag and Class G with another fantastic display to make it two out of two wins for the weekend. John Lock was 2nd and Class D winner, 3 seconds behind and Steve Avery was 3rd.

Jim Quirke of Croydon had a great weekend qualifying 16th and finishing 11th on Saturday then improved on Sunday to take 6th place.
