JEC XJS Championship - Brands Hatch 6th May 2007:
Race 2 and the top of the grid was Steve Davis, Derek Pearce 2nd and Steve (sideways) Avery 3rd.
Red lights out and everyone makes a mad dash for turn 1. Steve first, Pearce second and now Gary Davis and Gail Hill both pass Avery. On lap 2 it was 'curses' for Stephen Bantleman as he finds himself in the kitty litter again, that is twice in two days!
Slightly further down the field a three way tussle had developed for Lawrence Coppock of Braishfield, Lawrence Ball of Coventry and James Quirke, fighting it out for 9th, 10th and 11th places. When they paced the chequered flag there was less than 2 seconds separating all three.
There were other close races like Simon Seath and Matt Skelton, Bruce Colonge-Brown against Roger Webster and Paul Reynolds versus Richard Crossley.
However disaster was about to hit when Paul Merrant ended up in the gravel trap at Paddock, the car came to rest in a dangerous position and the race was once again red flagged. With the race past the half-way stage the race was declared over and everyone's position was to be the final result.
Steve Davis took Class G and his fourth out of four races. Pearce second and Avery third and Class E. John Locke was the Class D winner and Mike Sharman won Class F.
