JEC Powered by Jaguar Championship - Mallory Park 23rd October 2005:

What a tremendous race to end the season! 23 assorted Jaguars had entered this race & pole position was shared on exactly the same time (54.35) by Steve Davis & Pearce (XJSs) with Truslove (D Type) & Paddick Kougar) ready to pounce. Commiserations to non-starters, Lines (blown engine), Hood & Hobden (start line collision in an earlier race) who did not make the race.

Paddick & Truslove made terrific starts to lead the pole cars however the Pearce & Davis XJSs harried the leaders and eventually got through to put on a fantastic display of close, controlled driving, especially when lapping other cars. This battle was not resolved until the hairpin on the final lap when Davis went round the outside & held his nerve through Devil's Elbow to take the race by 4/100ths of a second.

If this was not enough excitement, there were battles aplenty throughout the field. Zoe North, after getting big wheelspin on the line spent the race trying to recapture her practice position. The Falce (D Type) & Ingman (XJS) battle continued throughout as did the Currell(XJS) & Marshall(D Type-offsong) scrap. A strong run by Walker (XJ12) kept Davis G honest but in an unaccustomed 7th place. A big battle for Class D between Palmer (X300) & Hastings(XJS) was resolved in that order. A class C win for Glover (Luego Jaguar).

20+ Jaguars on a tight 1.3 mile circuit is a sight to behold & it is a credit to all drivers that they avoided each other & the scenery.

Winner & Class E - Steve Davis, 2nd - Derek Pearce, 3rd Ray Ingman (XJSs)
Class B 1st John Truslove ( D Type), 2nd Graham Paddick (Kougar), 3rd Eric Falce (D Type)
Class C Winner Allan Glover
Class D Winner Chris Palmer (X300), 2nd Gary Hastings, 3rd Lawrence Coppock (XJSs)

With racing like this I can't wait until next season.
