JEC Powered by Jaguar Championship - Donington Park 19th June 2005:

Twenty-three cars took part in this 15 minute race with all the unusual shapes and sizes but all powered by Jaguar lumps.

It was 'new boys' E Wellhausen of Chesterfield and J Bussell of Colerne who stole the show with a display of blistering speed and 'edge of the seat racing'. Wellhausen qualified on pole, Bussell 2nd, J Dodd 3rd and Ken Paton 4th. When the red lights went out the two front boys were off with Wellhausen leading. Before long they were just leaving dust, but on lap 9 Bussell did squeeze past at Goddard where he out-braked Wellhausen, but Wellhausen seemed to be teasing Bussell by retaking the lead and going on to win the race and take Class C. Bussell 2nd and 0.7 seconds down took Class EG.

Steve Davis was 3rd, some 42 seconds behind in his 'E-Bay' XJS and was Class E winner. I bet he wish he bought a Knobbly Lister like Wellhausen's instead!!

Meanwhile, more shinnanigans from, yes, you've guessed it, Kevin (hannibal) Doyle. Get this!! In qualifying he only completes 6 laps because he some how snapped his gear lever in half. Kevin then uses the handle from his wheel jack as a make-shift gear selector, starts the race in 19th place and with that powerful V 12 in his wide-body Enola Gay, he then eats his way through the field, like Billy Bunter in a cake shop, to finish a brilliant 4th. The force is strong in this one, I think we shall name him Doyle Vader!!

Nice to see Richard Masters back and there was nothing wrong with well deserved 5th place.

Other Class winners were Graham Paddick (B) and Lawrence Coppock (D).
