Championship - Croft 11th September 2005:
Another thrilling weekend of unbelievable racing was witnessed by a strong turnout of spectators with the Saloons and the XJSs fighting it out in the last races of the season at the very long 2.2 mile Croft circuit.
Race 2
On Sunday we lost Steve Davis who blew a head gasket and retired on 3 lap.
Yesterday's 2nd placed Ken Paton was the first into the bend at Clervaux and then started to pull away from the rest for a few laps until a Triumph Spitfire driven by Ron Harper started to get bigger in Ken's mirrors. By about lap 7 the Spitfire was all over the D-Type but somehow Ken wouldn't crack and took Class B and race win.
Ray Ingham also had to fend off a yellow Mustang throughout the whole race and improved on yesterday's 8th for a 6th and Class E win.
There was also a 3 way tussle between Class D winner Chris Palmer in his X-300, Lawrence Coppock's XJS and Class B winner Tim Hood in his XK 150, they finished 11th, 12th and 13th respectively.
Most entertaining driver of the weekend was Gerald Webb in his XJS, he raced in both the XJS and Miller races on both days. Gerald is an ex-rally driver and I think it showed when he had more spins than a record on a dj's decks but the crowd loved every moment.
