JEC Powered by Jaguar Championship - Croft 10th September 2005:

Another thrilling weekend of unbelievable racing was witnessed by a strong turnout of spectators with the Saloons and the XJSs fighting it out in the last races of the season at the very long 2.2 mile Croft circuit.

Race 1
This race was a little short of numbers to make up the grid, but with the help of the Sports Car v Saloon Challenge a healthy group of cars were ready to race. These included Mustangs, BMW's and Morgans, etc, so it was interesting to see how the Jags would fair.

In the event, a Caterham 7was on pole, Triumph Spitfire 2nd and a Ford Fiesta 3rd. The Jaguars had their work cut out with Ken Paton in his D-Type best placed in 5th. However, the race is more important than qualifying, and when the red lights went out Phil Morris in his Caterham 7 cleared off in a cloud of dust and won the race by 18 seconds.

The Mustang and the Fiesta were out of the race within 4 laps and that left Ken Paton to take 2nd place and Class B win.

Steve Davis in his V12 XJS took Class E and finished 6th. Zoe North in her 4.0L XJS had a blistering run when she came from 15th on the grid to finish 9th, Zoe also had a great battle with Class I winner Nick Gwinnutt in his X-300 and when she finally passed Nick with a fantastic piece of driving the crowd wouldn't stop cheering.

Ray Ingham in the Jaguar Monthly XJS was all over Chris Springall in his Morgan Plus 8 but had to settle for 8th.

Class D winner Chris Palmer also raced well when he started 20th and crossed the line 13th.
