JEC XJS Championship - Croft 10th September 2005:

Another thrilling weekend of unbelievable racing was witnessed by a strong turnout of spectators with the Saloons and the XJSs fighting it out in the last races of the season at the very long 2.2 mile Croft circuit.

Race 1
18 cats lined up on the grid with Gary Davis in his 'Jaguar World Monthly' V12 on pole, Steve Davis 2nd and Gerald Webb 3rd.

When the red lights went out there was a massive charge into the first bend and even with the reputation these cats have, somehow they mad it safely through. Phew!

Steve Davis was now in the lead. Slightly behind, Gary Davis found Derek Pearce, who had come from 8th up to 3rd, breathing down his neck. On lap 5 Derek pulled off a brilliant overtake manoeuvre at Clervaux and now had Steve in his sights, but as hard as he pushed Steve wasn't going to buckle and he went on to take a fine race and Class G win. Pearce was only 0.2 seconds adrift.

The season long battlers Gary Hastings and Gail Hill both had different races this weekend. Gary finished an excellent 5th and Class D winner while Gail had to settle for 13th when her car suffered fuel starvation.

Driver of the Day went to John Griffin who finished 7th and did well to stay ahead of Lawrence Coppock and beat him by 0.3 seconds.

Brothers Lawrence and Dave Ball also put brotherly love aside and finished 9th and 10th with 0.2 seconds apart. Sam Clarke was the Class E winner who finished 4th and Gordan Bobic took Class F.
