JEC XJS Championship - Cadwell Park 10th July 2005:

Unbroken sunshine promised high temperatures and a dry track on this tight picturesque Lincolnshire circuit, and what followed was fabulous close and exciting racing as groups of cars raced nose to tail right through to the chequered flag. The Jaguars provided great entertainment in each race for the fortunate spectators.

Gary Davis made pole position in practise with Derek Pearce 0.7 of a second behind. Steve Davis in the third Class G car was on the second row with Martin Sutherland in the fastest six cylinder car.

As the flag fell Derek Pearce shot into the lead with Gary Davis second, Steve Davis third and Martin Sutherland fourth. For most of the first lap these four were seemingly joined together until Martin "lost it" at Hall Bends dropping down to seventh position.

A second drama occurred before the end of the first lap, contact between Gary and Derek causing Derek to fall back to ninth position. The race long battle for the lead continued between Gary and Steve, Gary retaining the top honours by less than two seconds. Both Martin Sutherland and Derek Pearce made valiant efforts to fight back, being rewarded by fourth and fifth positions respectively, Martin just failing to displace David Eyles, Class E car, in third place who had driven a steady consistent race.

Class D winner, Gail Hill, secured sixth overall despite feeling the ill effects from the high temperatures.
