JEC XJS Championship - Brands Hatch 14th August 2005:

Race 2
Gary Davis completed an excellent second win with Steve Davis once again taking 2nd and for much of the time was hot on the heels of Gary until the temperature gauge started to rise and he had to ease off the gas. Sean Collin once again took a lonely 3rd and Class E win. Derek Pearce replaced his diff overnight and started at the back of the grid but showed a great display of driving to finish 4th.

Lawrence Coppock finished 13th to keep Gary Hastings 14th at bay, whilst Kevin Doyle had problems with his car as the rear brakes were binding and this eventually caused the exhaust to fall off, so it was race over on lap 9.

Gail Hill had lost her car in the previous race and a spare car was rushed down in the night, this one was to be her new car for next season and was now a Class G car. Gail is to close to winning her first championship and every point counts. She also started at the back of the grid and finished a fantastic 8th, only 1 second behind 6th place William Lynch and 7th place David Eyles.

However disaster and misfortune were to strike a heavy blow when Paul Hands lost a wheel and as he crossed the finishing line, suddenly the car turned 90 degrees towards the pit wall just as Gail was just crossing the line. She had no-where to go and hit Paul side-on. His car briefly caught fire. The pit and safety crews were on the scene quicker than you can say 'fire' and the situation was contained. Both drivers were taken to the medical centre but both, thankfully, are o.k. Just goes to show how very strong these Jaguars are.

Sam Clarke had a much better race when he improved his 19th place the day before to 11th. Other Class winners were Gerald Webb (D) and Gordon Bobic (F) again. Driver of the day award went rightfully given to Gail Hill.
