JEC XJS
Championship - Lydden Hill 8th August 2004:
A full 21-car grid took the track for the race
including Sam Clarke who started thanks to the generosity of David Eyles who
switched races to allow a reserve to race.
Derek Pearce again took the lead but, with the disadvantage of an automatic
could only hold off Steve Davis until lap 8 when a daring overtaking manoeuvre
on the grass saw Steve Davis take the lead and the chequered flag.
Sam Clarke, who started at the back of the grid, was the star of the race
fighting through to 3rd overall despite strong opposition from Hands in
particular. This was master class to others in safe overtaking and not barging
through regardless.
Strong battles between David Upton/Stewart Lyddell and Boon/Silverton kept the
crown enthralled. Class wins to Steve Davis, Derek Pearce, Sean Collin and
Jocelyn-Brown
