JEC XJS Championship - Croft 28th June 2003:

This very long 2.1 mile circuit gave these Jags a chance to really stretch there legs with some lovely straights to reach some top speeds and with a beautifully sunny weekend it was, sit back with a Pimms, a pork pie and enjoy the racing.

The turnout for the XJS race was a little disappointing with an 'unlucky for some' 13 cars on the grid and 2 non-starters, William Lynch (clutch) and the lovely Gail Hill (rear brake seals), she was not a happy bunny with that, but the rest of the lads gave the excellent crowd a show to remember.

Qualifying the day before went without a hitch apart from Mr Doyle who after about 5 laps lost it at Clervaux and spun across the gravel trap and took out a 5 high tyre wall. He did however achieve pole but in the first lap of the race his head-gasket blew and it was race over.

This allowed Derek Pearce to take the lead, the Class E win and the race but it wasn't plain sailing as Class G winner Cliff Ryan was all over him like Brittany Spears bodyguard, Cliff earned a great 2nd less than 2 seconds behind Derek.

A little further down the field Tony Dunk had a blistering race when he was 7th on the grid and finished 3rd with Class D winner Sean Collin 4th just 1.5 seconds behind. There was a Class F win up for grabs and that was fiercely contested between Sam Clarke and Steve Davis. Steve was the eventual winner.
